November, 2007
Congratulations to Deon, Micaela and Jack who won JD Series cross country awards.
Kathryn van Ryswyk ran at the BC Cross country championships, her first run of the year and she placed 7th.

Sept. 29
We ran the South Fraser cross country races today and had nearly 300 competitors. Click the Results button above for all of the race details. Many thanks to our volunteers who did a great job.

This meet is the 2nd in the Lower Mainland XC series of 5 races that culminates in the Provincial Championships in late October.

Great effort for 8 South Fraser runners: Crislana, Lisa, Jack, Deon, Nicole, Alannah, Abraja and Jasleen who ran well today.

Congratulations to the 5 South Fraser athletes who will be awarded with BC Athletics JD awards this year for T&F performance:
Emily Kerr, Konrad Piaseczny, Kathryn van Ryswyk, Ben Ingvaldson and Tayla Jackson all acheived either the new Performance standard or a Top 10 mark.
Unfortunately Tesarla Johnson and Tosha Moore achieved the standard but did not record a throw in 2007 rendering them ineligible. In addition Serena Graf and Terrell Jana achieved standard but did not attend the championship meet, which is also a criteria for the award.
If you consider the change of grouping for 15 year olds, where Del Ingvaldson and Florence Clifford will now be considered for BC Athletics Youth awards and not the JD awards and 2007 must be considered one of the most successful ever for our club.

We had 8 athletes running yesterday at the Pinetree cross-country meet, it was nice weather and they all performed well, congratulations to Deon who won the 94 Boys category.

Cross country training is in progress, our routine in September is to train on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm. South Fraser training is at Bear Creek park in Surrey, new athletes age 9+ are welcome, just show up before 6pm, meet at the equipment shed and ask for Jim. For more information, please email jimc@synnex.com

August 14th
Del Ingvaldson and Florence Clifford arrive home from New Brunswick today, they represented team B.C. at the National championships for 15 year olds. National Champion Del Won the Discus competition with a massive 57.44 Metre throw, just shy of the Canadian record! He added Shot put Silver and 4x100 Gold and Sprint medal Silver for an outstanding week-end.
Florence won Discus Bronze as Team B.C. performed very well overall.

Making the South Fraser all-time Top 10 JD lists in 2007 were:

July 31
Jallisa and Florence competed last week-end at the Canadian Junior Championships in Abbotsford, they failed to qualify for the finals but Florence did manage a Hammer PB of 36.60m (4Kg). These girls aged 16 and 15 still have a few more years to compete against juniors (ages 18 and 19) and had a great experience against the top girls in Canada.

We have 2 athletes still looking forward to competition at the 15 year old National Championships in New Brunswick August 7th, best of luck to Del and Florence.
South Fraser alumni athletes had some great results recently at Nationals and at Worlds; Sabrina and Christabel Nettey went to the World Youth Championships in the Chech Republic. Sabrina came in 8th in Long Jump and just missed the 100M finals by less than 1/100th of a second. Christabel came in 8th in Hurdles and just missed the Long Jump finals. At the National Junior championships high jumper Karly Neveu cleared a seasonal best 1.71m to win; Christabel long jumped 6.07m to win and was 2nd in hurdles. Sabrina was top 5 in both 100M and 200M dashes but had an off day in Long Jump.

A Summary of South Fraser results at the Provincial Championships in Track & Field for 2007:
8 Champions:
Tosha Moore - 800M, girls age 9.
Ben Ingvaldson - Discus, boys aged 11.
Tesarla Johnson - 60M, girls age 11.
Kathryn van Ryswyk - Long Jump, girls age 12.
Deon Clifford - 1500M, 3000M, boys age 13.
Konrad Piaseczny - Shot put, boys age 13.
Florence Clifford - Discus, Hammer, girls age 15.
Del Ingvaldson - Shot put, boys age 15. Also BC High School grade 8/9 Discus Champion.
Jallisa Clifford - Triple Jump, Juvenile Women.

6 more Provincial medalists:

Matthew Piaseczny - LJ, TJ, boys age 12.
Emily Kerr - Shot, Disc, Hammer, girls age 14.
Brodie Ingvaldson - BC High School grade 8/9 100M.

We also had a few top ranked athletes who could not attend the Championship meets because of vacation, injury or other sports conflicts:
Brodie Ingvaldson showed his form early in the season beating the top 15 year old sprinters, but was injured in the Fraser Valley HS champs and could not return to top form.
Terrell Jana made a hurdles top 10 mark and recorded the top sprint and jumps for 9 year old boys.
Serena Graf had been the top thrower in her age class for the previous 3 years and was again throwing big top 10 marks this season with hopes for another BC Record; she had the added element of serious competition from her Ocean Athletics rival but never got a chance to compete in dry weather.
Other medal hopefuls who did not compete included Alannah Vetterl, Kristen Findlay, Michael Muniak, Nicole Muniak, Jalen Jana, Keenan Jacklin, Brayden Jacklin and Micaela Flores-Aguilera.

July 17th
For most of our athletes the season concluded last week-end in Kamloops, over the course of this year’s T&F season we had 50 athletes compete for the club and 20 of them made the trip for the JD championships (ages 9 - 14).
In general our athletes performed at a very high level, many personal best marks, some victories and Top 10 marks:
Emily Kerr won triple Silver, close to PB levels and narrowly beaten in Hammer and Discus by her Chilliwack rival.
Tosha Moore ran a hurdles PB and Top 10 mark of 11.77s for a Silver. She also won the 800M Gold in 2:49 and added a 100M PB under 16s.
Deon Clifford won his 5th consecutive 1500M Provincial title and this year added a 3000M Gold too, the latter was a defeat over his West Vancouver rival for the first time in 4 races.
Kathryn van Ryswyk had another big Long Jump PB, her 4.62m leap earned Gold, she added PB's in 200M and 400M both for medals.
Ben Ingvaldson won Discus with a Top 10 mark of 25.12m. Tayla Jackson won Discus Silver with a Top10 mark of 17.56m, and she added Shot put Bronze with a PB 6.21m. Tayla and Abraja had Hurdles PB's under 12 seconds.

July 1st
Sunday was another outstanding day for our 30 South Fraser athletes in Kelowna.
Some Gold medalists: Deon 1500M, Florence Hammer, Ben Shot put(PB), Del Shot put(P), Terrell Long Jump(PB), Emily Hammer and Alannah Triple Jump(PB).
Many Personal Records: Jallisa TJ, Tayla LJ, Jalen 200M, Kaydee 200M, Nicole Shot put, Michael HJ, Newsha LJ, Konrad HJ, Tatianna 200M and Kathryn 200M.

After a rainy Friday evening we finally got a break in the weather and our athletes responded with a plethora of personal best marks on Saturday in Kelowna.
Florence won Discus Gold on her last throw. Del earned a Discus PB over 53 metres, and sprinted 11.57s in the 100M to qualify for the final. Terrell easily won the hurdles and the 60M dash.
The Johnson sisters both picked up hurdles Silver. Emily won Shot and Discus, the latter with a big 3 metre PB to earn a spot on the South Fraser alltime top 10 list.
Nicole McDougal got a 3 metre Discus PB, missing Gold by 1cm, she was happy with the Silver medal. Konrad won Shot put with a new PB. Jallisa stretched her hammer record out over 35 metres. Tatianna ran her 100M under 14 seconds for the first time. Newsha got her Shot put over 6 metres to earn Silver. Michael long jumped 3.81m. Sundays forcast calls for fast times and long distances.

Karn long jumped 5.39m, Alannah high jumped 1.24m, Konrad high jumped 1.50m and Kathryn long jumped 4.38m.

June 3rd
We had 10 athletes in action at the BC High School champs this week at Swangaurd Stadium in Burnaby, Del led the way in the Grade 8/9 division with a Discus Gold medal (49.99m Personal Best), 100M Silver and 200M Bronze. Brother Brodie was struggling with a hip ailment, but still managed a 100M Bronze.
In the Open division Mason made the finals of both the 100M and 200M, a great acheivement for a grade 10 boy. Florence could have contested in the Grade 8/9 division where she would have been a Discus favourite and High Jump contender, but instead she competed in the open division where she could do her favourite event, the hammer throw. She managed 6th in Hammer and 8th in Discus. Jallisa earned her first top 8 finish with a 7th in Hammer. Emily managed 8th in Hammer, an excellent result for a grade 8!
